Polynesian Adventure, Day 10

Saturday March 9, Cloudy, but clear by mid-day and cloudy later.

This was our second day in Bora Bora, with no excursions.  We slept in and for the first time had breakfast in the main restaurant, very relaxed.  Buffet style breakfast with all styles represented - European, British, Scandinavian, and everything in the middle.

The ship was running a smaller tender over to their "private" beach.  The trip took 20 minutes, we landed in the shallow water and "assaulted" the beach.  All of us went at about 11:30 am and returned about two hours later.  It was mostly clear sand, shallow for good distance out and then dropped off quickly.  We were told no snorkeling, but BS, SS and LS brought theirs and saw a few interesting things.  The current was pretty strong parallel to the beach.  We spent a lot of time just sitting on the edge of the drop off.  BS and SS joined an informal volleyball game, raising the quality of the game substantially.

We returned to the ship, had lunch, and spent the afternoon trading photos, sitting and lounging.

Below are a variety of photos - the underwater photos are care of BS using his Go-Pro camera, and some others for things we did that were not described or were related to past happenings.

BS photo of a Black Tipped Reef Shark. (Friday excursion)

Sting Ray and tail end of Shark.

SS and LS snorkeling.

Sorry, but I can't seem to get this video loaded (it may be too large), but it shows sharks and rays swimming by LS  and SS as they watch through masks.

This video may work....

The blue lipped anemone (mentioned in a previous post) that is really a clam of some type.

Dinner last evening.

Ditto with CP and ET

Pork Loins with creamy polenta.

BS and LS

A church on Bora Bora, that EP and PT saw Friday while on 2-mile walk - way too hot to do more.

Photo for CP, who works at Home Depot in Massachusetts - a potential new location to consider transferring to.

View from the highest point EP and PT reached on our walk.  We were stopped from going any higher  by dense vegetation.  We were trying to summit a "belvedere."

Elaine's photo of the private beach we spent time at this morning.

Ditto.

Ditto.

The volleyball wizards SS and BS having a round robin with a couple of others guests and one crew member.

West Virginia skill!

SS showing the others how it's done.

Post volleyball.

View back to main island.

Tender departure from the beach.

Another over-water resort.

Ditto.

A Moorings rental sailboat.

A small "Motu."

The Paul Gauguin in the far distance.

The main mountain on the island.

Home.....

Dinner in the fancy restaurant at our usual table. LS has made numerous friends on the wait staff (Cesar, Romeo and others), who are very attentive and friendly.

We finished the evening with a magic show in the Grand Salon, by a single female performer, Caroline Marx, with a single male assistant.  Card tricks, illusions, and mind reading were her favorite tricks.

As I wrap this post up for sending, we are gently rolling as we cruise from Bora Bora to Rangiroa.  We left Bora Bora at 4 pm and won't arrive until about noon today.
