August 9: We had a day to explore Glasgow with Elaine. We took her to many of the spots we saw in May and got to visit the Kelvingrove Museum in depth this time around. We visited the Botanical Garden and had a great time viewing the many carnivorous plants and ferns.

We next went to the Hunterian Museum with the University of Glasgow campus, partly because of the eclectic collection, but mostly because the structure is so wonderful.

And then on to the Kelvingrove Museum. We saw more about Charles Rennie Macintosh and his buddies, impressionist art pieces, and some of the more current collections. We stopped for beer and ciders at a 'new age' pub to rehydrate after so much walking.

We had dinner at the basement part of Two Fat Ladies, and each of us ordered the very nice 3-course, fixed priced meal. Both this restaurant and the Red Onion last night can be attributed to Kathy Johnson's
Lonely Planet Guide. The "Two Fat Ladies at the Buttery" (great name but no explanation) was in a very obscure location off the regular tourist route.
